Austin Varco locked up the West Coast’s First Gear Mazda Challenge the final SCCA U.S. Majors west championship weekend at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA. Varco finished the season strong with double podiums at Portland International Raceway totaling out at 1 majors win and 6 podiums in 8 starts.

The First Gear Mazda Challenge championship awards the top regional Spec Miata driver under 25 with an automatic bid for the Mazda Road-to-24 MX-5 Cup Shootout in 2022. Typically, 30 drivers are nominated with a total pool of over 8,000 Mazda racers across the country.
