(Ashington, UK) Close Racing UK signed American road-racer Austin Varco to represent the premier U.S. Mazda road-racing series, Spec Miata, abroad at marquee Formula 1 track Silverstone International this Spring. Varco will be driving the #117 MX-5 Mk.1 in the opening event for the 2022 BRSCC MX-5 Championship.

Varco, coming off a recent win in the Hoosier Super Tour championship, earned his FIA international license through the SportsCar Club of America. “The FIA is the most important license to have because they dictate all motorsports internationally and abroad. It’s a highly sought after credential.” The FIA license allows him to compete in everything from Formula 3, to TransAm and IMSA.

Austin will contend with around 80 of Britain’s most talented sports car racers in Rounds 1 & 2 of the championship March 19, 2022.
